Low Fat Toasted French Bread Recipe

Toasted French Bread

Low Fat Alternative To Chips, Impressive Holiday Appetizer

Toasted French Bread is a sophisticated (and low fat) alternative to corn chips or potato chips, and it makes an impressive holiday appetizer.

Serve toasted french bread with artichoke dip, spinach dip, sour cream dip, hummus, refried beans, guacamole, salsa - find them all in our Sauces, Dips and Spreads recipes.

Use day old, firm skinny baguette(s), white or whole grain, for easy slicing. Remove the crusts if you like - but do it before you slice the bread! I think it's unnecessary, but maybe not if you're entertaining royalty.

Makes approximately 32 slices, or 8 Servings:

Nutrition Data Per Serving (based on white bread): 92 calories, 18 g carbohydrate, 1 g fat, 208 mg sodium, 1 g sugars, 1 g dietary fiber, 4 g protein. Estimated glycemic load: 11. Low in saturated fat, very low in cholesterol, good source of folate & selenium
